Stroft Fluorocarbon FC2: abrasion-resistant leader material

The Stroft Fluorocarbon FC2 comes on 25 m spools in diameters from 0.20 mm (3.4 kg) to 0.40 mm (11.5 kg). Its hard surface makes it very resistant to abrasion, so it holds up around mussel beds, rocks and snags, and it sinks fast, which helps when your lure has to stay close to the bottom. FC2 has very low stretch for a direct feel, resists UV and ageing, and with a refractive index of 1.42, close to that of water (1.38), it is almost invisible underwater. That makes it a good leader for zander, perch and sea bass in clear water. The diameters from 0.20 to 0.35 mm fit the Stroft Leader Spool System and Cutter Rings; the 0.40 mm spool does not. Stroft NiTi Polywire: knottable nickel-titanium wire for pike

The Stroft NiTi Polywire is a leader material made of nickel-titanium with superelastic properties: it bends a long way but always springs back straight, so it does not kink like steel wire. You need no crimps or tools, a four-turn clinch knot is enough, and the knot keeps up to 100% of the linear breaking strength. Each spool holds 2 m, and we stock 0.30 mm (8 kg), 0.35 mm (14 kg) and 0.40 mm (18 kg). The non-reflective surface keeps it discreet, the 8% elasticity absorbs shocks in the fight, and it gives maximum bite resistance against pike and other toothy predators. See also Lines and Leaders.

Stroft Leader Spool System and Cutter Rings: your leader material in order

The Stroft Leader Spool System holds 3 or 5 Stroft leader spools with a maximum line diameter of 0.35 mm in one holder, complete with cutter rings, stickers to label each spool and a short strap to hang it on your bag, clothing or a shelf. The line is not included. The Stroft Cutter Rings snap onto a spool: a clip holds the line end so the spool cannot unwind, a brass guide lets the line run out smoothly, and the built-in Solingen stainless steel blade with titanium nitride coating cuts monofilament, fluorocarbon and braid. They are reusable and also work on a single spool of FC2. Want it all in one go? The Stroft Spool Leader System Ready To Fish combines the set of 3 with three 25 m spools of FC2 in 0.20 mm (3.4 kg), 0.25 mm (5.3 kg) and 0.30 mm (7.1 kg).

Stroft Vorfachringe Leader Rings: strong connections between two lines

The Stroft Vorfachringe Leader Rings connect two lines with up to 100% knot strength. They are made of a corrosion-resistant alloy, drum-polished in several stages for minimal friction, and finished in a low-reflection grey-black. Tie your leader to the ring and you can replace the leader tip quickly without shortening your main line every time. Type 1 has a 2.00 mm outer diameter and 9 kg breaking strength, Type 2 is 2.50 mm and 12 kg, and Type 3 is 3.10 mm and 16 kg.
