DSTYLE lures at Charlie's Fishing: Japanese finesse softbaits for perch and zander

DSTYLE is a Japanese lure brand founded in 2013 by Daisuke Aoki, three times JB Top 50 Angler of the Year in Japan, Bassmaster Open winner and former Bassmaster Elite Series pro. He designs every bait around one specific situation on the water, with a strong focus on finesse, and he is the angler who made mid-strolling famous: a V-tail minnow on a light jighead, shaken slowly through mid-water so the bait rolls like a weakened baitfish. DSTYLE is now distributed in Europe by SPRO, and Charlie's Fishing is among the first shops to stock the range. DSTYLE Virola: the V-tail softbait for mid-strolling

The Virola is DSTYLE's signature V-tail softbait, with a balanced body that rolls on the retrieve and on the fall. It is the bait Yui Aoki used to win the 2025 Bassmaster Open on Kentucky Lake. From the Virola Micro 1.5" for perch on fry, via the Virola Slim 2.5" and Virola 2.8" for drop shot and jighead, to the hollow Virola 4", the heavier Virola Type HG 4" and the Virola 6" for mid-strolling and big zander. DSTYLE creature baits: Ebison, SVSB Big and Geelacanth

The Ebison Boy 2.7" and Ebison Mommy 4.1" are elastomer shrimp imitations that stand upright on a nail sinker and wave their claws at every touch of the rod tip, a perch and zander bait for hard bottom and harbour walls. The SVSB Big 3.4" (Super Vibe Sinking Bug) is a sinking creature bait with integrated legs for Texas rig and as a jig trailer. DSTYLE worms for Ned rig, Neko rig and drop shot

The Freeimo 65 is a do-nothing bait for perch along the bank, fished on a Ned head and left alone. The D.S Kammer 2.5" and D.S Kammer 3" are scythe-tail baits made for drop shot, with a tail that flutters on the slightest movement. DSTYLE D-Spiker Compact: finesse spinnerbait

The D-Spiker Compact 7g and D-Spiker Compact 10.5g are compact spinnerbaits with a subtle profile and textured blades that throw a lot of flash for their size. What is mid-strolling?

Mid-strolling is a Japanese finesse technique: a no-action V-tail minnow such as the Virola on a light jighead (2 to 5 g), retrieved slowly through mid-water while you shake the rod tip, so the bait rolls from side to side like a weakened baitfish. It works for suspended perch and zander that ignore a paddle tail.

Which DSTYLE bait is best for perch?

The Virola 2.8" on a drop shot or a 2 to 3 g jighead, and the Freeimo 65 on a Ned head when perch are pressured. In clear water with small fry, go down to the Virola Micro 1.5".

Do DSTYLE baits work for zander?

Yes. The Virola 4", Type HG 4" and 6" mid-strolled over deeper water are made for suspended zander, and the Ebison Mommy and SVSB Big fish the bottom on a Texas rig or nail sinker.
