Spare tails and lure spare parts at Charlie's Fishing: tails, bodies, lips, heads and weights for the lures you already own

A pike bites off a tail, a lip cracks on a rock, a soft body tears after a good session. With the right spare part your lure is back in the water in a minute, and you do not have to buy the whole lure again. On this page you find our spare tails and lure spare parts: silicone tails and weight stickers for the Swimbait Republic Glideway, spare bodies, jigheads and hooks for the Fiiish Black Minnow, tails, lips and a clip weight for the Nays TRN 190, lips and tails for the DRT Klash, tuning parts for Kaesu and Madotachi, spare tails for mouse and bucktail lures, and screws, weights and rigs for your softbaits. Many of these parts do more than repair: they change the depth, the action or the colour of a lure. Below we explain which part fits which lure and size, and why you would swap it.

One rule before you order: almost every spare part on this page fits one lure model and one size only. A Glideway 176 tail does not fit the 126, and a Black Minnow N2 body does not fit an N3 jighead. Check the model and size of your lure, then pick the part with the same name and number.

Glidebait spare parts: Glideway tails and weight stickers

The Swimbait Republic Glideway comes in three sizes, and each size has its own tails and weight stickers. The Swimbait Republic Glideway 126 Spare Tails, Swimbait Republic Glideway 176 Spare Tails and Swimbait Republic Glideway 236 Spare Tails are tough silicone tails, one per pack, for the Swimbait Republic Glideway 126, the Swimbait Republic Glideway 176 and the Swimbait Republic Glideway 236. You swap a tail when pike teeth have torn it, or to give the bait a colour accent. A tip from the product pages: take the tail off before you put the bait back in your box, so it does not bend out of shape.

The weight stickers set the depth. Every Glideway floats out of the box. Fill the first cavity with a sticker and it suspends; fill both and it sinks slowly. The Swimbait Republic Glideway 126 Weight Stickers come as 0.7 g and 1.0 g stickers, 10 per pack. The Swimbait Republic Glideway 176 Weight Stickers weigh 1.5 g each, 10 per pack, and with the cavities loaded the 176 fishes from the surface down to about 3.7 m. The Swimbait Republic Glideway 236 Weight Stickers are made for the cavities of the biggest Glideway. Add a sticker in cold water, when the wind lifts your line, when you fish from a high bank or quay, or when you need a little more casting distance. The Rapala Super Shadow Rap Glide works with screw-in weights. The Rapala Screw Diver System Weights are tungsten weights that you screw into the belly by hand, in a pack of 5 and 7.5 g or a pack of 10 and 15 g. They fit the Rapala Super Shadow Rap Glide 11 (which comes with a 5 g weight) and the Rapala Super Shadow Rap Glide 16 (which comes with a 10 g weight). Without a weight both run at about 0.5 to 1 m; with a heavier weight you take them down to deeper drop-offs. Fiiish Black Minnow: spare bodies, jigheads, hooks and glue

The Fiiish Black Minnow is a system: a soft body, a jighead and a hidden hook that sit together. That makes it easy to keep fishing, because you only replace the part that is worn. It also means the numbers must match. The Black Minnow 90 is N2, the 105 is N2.5 and the 120 is N3, and the body, jighead and hook must all carry the same number.

• Black Minnow 105 (N2.5): the Fiiish Black Minnow 105 N2.5 Spare bodies are 10.5 cm, 3 per pack, and the Fiiish Black Minnow 105 N2.5 Jigheads come in Shore 8 g, Search 12 g and Off Shore 16 g, 2 per pack
• Black Minnow 120 (N3): the Fiiish Black Minnow 120 Spare Bodies N3 are 12 cm, 3 per pack, and the Fiiish Black Minnow 120 N3 Jigheads come in Shallow 6 g, Shore 12 g, Search 18 g, Off Shore 25 g, Deep 37 g and X-Deep 50 g (2 per pack, the 50 g 1 per pack)

The Fiiish Black Minnow Spare Hooks Krog are the slightly offset, weedless spare hooks for all three sizes, in N2, N2.5 and N3, 4 per pack. Swap a hook when the point is blunt or bent. The jigheads are also the way to fish a different depth: a Shore head for shallow water and calm conditions, a heavier Search or Off Shore head for deeper water, current or vertical fishing from the boat. With Fiiish the Glue (10 g bottle) you fix the body to the head and repair small tears, so a body lasts longer. New to the system? Swimbait tails and lips: Nays TRN 190 and DRT Klash

The Nays TRN 190 is a two-piece swimbait with the Rapid Switch System: you change the tail and the lip in seconds, without re-rigging. Both tails and both lips come in the box, and all of them are sold separately as spares. The Nays TRN Fishtail gives a tighter, natural action and the full 190 mm length. The Nays TRN Beaver Tail gives a wider, more powerful action, and with it the lure measures 170 mm. The Nays TRN Lip (spare lips) comes as a short lip and a wide lip, to change the action and the running depth. The Nays TRN 190 Clip Weight 2.5 g adds 2.5 g to fine-tune balance and depth, and helps in wind or current. These parts fit the TRN 190 only. Read our Nays TRN article and see the Nays page.

The DRT Klash lures change character with every lip and tail. For the DRT Klash 9 Low (22.9 cm, 125 g) there are the DRT Klash 9 Lips in Roll Lip, Spare Lip and Wide Lip, 2 per pack: the Wide Lip and Roll Lip take the bait deeper and push more water, while the Spare Lip makes it roll more along its length instead of swinging at the joint. For the smaller DRT Tiny Klash Low (16.8 cm, 56 g) the DRT Tiny Klash Lips come in Short, Spare, Wide/Deep, YTMK and Yabase, 2 per pack. The Wide Lip takes it deeper, and fitted upside down it turns the Tiny Klash into a wakebait on the surface; the Short Lip makes it run a little shallower with a quieter action over weed beds; the YTMK Lip gives more roll. The DRT Tiny Klash V-Tail is the tail for deadwalking: the front sways while the bait almost hangs still. Tuning parts for Kaesu and Madotachi

Japanese joint baits are built to be tuned, and the parts wear with use. The Kaesu Spare Weights and Cap is the set for the Reload Weight System of the Kaesu OHIRA and the Kaesu KRK 205: 2 tungsten weights, 2 plastic balls and 1 weight cover. With them you set how the lure floats and how deep it cranks. The OHIRA (16.5 cm, 42 to 49 g) fishes from 0 to 2.8 m depending on the weight setting. The Kaesu OHIRA Spare Lips (1 per pack) replace a lip damaged on rocks or structure, and the Kaesu OHIRA Spare Tails are elastomer tails in three colours. Store elastomer tails away from your softbaits, as the plasticisers can make them melt or deform. The Kaesu KRK Joint pads (4 per pack, for left and right) keep the joint of the Kaesu KRK 165 and KRK 205 working as it should. Read our Kaesu Ohira article and see the Kaesu page.

The Madotachi Soft Hanitas Crank 3 is a 7.6 cm floating soft crankbait with two adjustable systems. The Madotachi QWING #6 for Soft Hanitas Crank 3 and Soft Hanitas 4 are replacement fins, 2 per pack, that you pull out and push in without tools; turn them to change the action or to make the lure track straight. The Madotachi Plate IN 1.2 for Soft Hanitas Crank 3 and Soft Hanitas 4 is a stainless steel internal plate for the IN system. The Madotachi Hooks for Soft Hanitas Crank 3 and Soft Hanitas 4 are weighted Ichikawa Muscle Hooks in 3/0 with 0.45, 1.3 or 2.6 g built in, 3 per pack, so you add weight without a separate sinker. Spare tails for mouse lures, bucktails and rats

On a bucktail or mouse lure the soft tail takes most of the bites, so a spare tail is the part pike anglers use most. The CWC Double Tail (17 cm, 49 g, eleven colours) is the original twin tail of the Miuras Mouse. It fits the VMC Mustache Shallow, the VMC Pike Chain Rig and our Charlie's Mustache Mouse Combo. The CWC Double Tail Mini (14.5 cm, 20 g, nine colours) is the smaller one for the VMC Mustache Shallow Baby, the VMC Mustache Rig, the Charlie's Mustache Mouse Baby Combo and the Charlie's VMC Mustache Mouse Combo Sinking. The Frapp Rowdy Head comes with a Frapp Tricky Tail 8" (20 cm) as its trailer, so that is the one to keep as a spare when a pike chews the tail. The Frapp Tricky Tail 10" (25 cm) (101 g) fits the same screw system for a longer, heavier profile. The Savage Gear Mutant Rat Soft Loose Body 24 cm (42 g) is the soft rat on its own. It replaces the tail of the Savage Gear Mutant Rat 24 cm, or you rig it weedless on a big hook to fish through lily pads. For the Savage Gear Mutant Rat 30 cm there is the Savage Gear Mutant Rat Soft Loose Body 30 cm (85 g). The BIM Tackle Crazy Head is the spare and extra clip-on head for the BIM Tackle Crazy Rabbit, such as the BIM Tackle Crazy Rabbit Shallow and BIM Tackle Crazy Rabbit Deep, in 15, 30, 40 and 50 g. Screws, weights and rigs for softbaits

Some spare parts are not tied to one lure but help you rig your own. The VMC Refill Screw screws into the head of a softbait and holds a stinger, in M for small to medium baits and L for bigger baits. Fish it without weight for a shallow presentation, or add a VMC Refill Weight (10, 15, 20 or 25 g, 2 per pack) when you need to go deeper. The BKK Stinger Screw (S, M and L, 5 per pack) is a hardened stainless steel screw to fix a stinger in big shads and hybrid baits, popular for shallow water. The Toppies Bone Rig Refill Kit Screw gives you 3 screws to build your own shallow rigs and stingers.

The Savage Gear Line Thru Roach Rig is the replacement rig for the Savage Gear Line Thru Roach in 25 and 32 cm, on Carbon49 wire with SGY-1X trebles and a built-in swivel. The Savage Gear Mono Spinnerbait is a spinnerbait arm: attach a swimbait, glidebait or crankbait to it for extra flash and vibration. It comes in 11, 16 and 21 cm. The 11 cm suits the BIM Tackle Crazy Rabbit JNR, the 16 cm the Rapala Soft Peto Prerigged and the 21 cm the Crazy Rabbit. Last, the Stroft Cutter Rings clip onto your Stroft leader spools: they hold the line end and have a built-in cutter, and they also come with the Stroft Leader Spool System. Which spare tail fits my Swimbait Republic Glideway?

Each Glideway size has its own tail: the Glideway 126 Spare Tails fit the 126, the 176 Spare Tails fit the 176 and the 236 Spare Tails fit the 236. They do not swap between sizes. Take the tail off before you store the bait, so it keeps its shape.

Can I use Fiiish Black Minnow spare bodies on another jighead size?

No. Bodies, jigheads and hooks must carry the same number: N2 for the Black Minnow 90, N2.5 for the 105 and N3 for the 120. Within one size you can combine any body with any jighead weight, from a light Shore head to a heavy X-Deep head.

Why should I replace the tail of my bucktail or mouse lure?

The soft tail gives a bucktail or mouse lure most of its movement, and it is the part pike bite. A torn tail swims badly, so replace it as soon as it is damaged. A spare tail also lets you change colour on the water, for example a contrasting tail on a natural body.
