BIM Tackle at Charlie's Fishing: French bucktail and chatterbait lures for pike
BIM Tackle is a young French lure brand from the Bordeaux area, founded in 2021 by Bo Dai and lure designer Matthias Lothy. The name comes from "Et bim!", the French word for the moment a pike slams your lure. Every BIM Tackle lure is designed in France around one idea: a lure should push water and move like something alive, without lead where it can be avoided. That is why the ChaCha Bait has a zinc head, a skirt of almost 100% natural hair and a packaging of recycled paper, and why the brand puts part of its profits into restocking and habitat projects. At Charlie's Fishing we stock the complete BIM Tackle range for pike, zander and perch, from the ChaCha Bait and Crazy Rabbit bucktails to the Shallow Cruiser, the Tiger Pike spinnerbait, the Roaring Lion chatterbait and the Lethal Tusk craws.
BIM Tackle ChaCha Bait: chatterbait and bucktail jig in one
The ChaCha Bait (also written Chacha Bait) is the lure that made BIM Tackle known: a hybrid of a bladed jig and a bucktail jig. The blade up front sends out a hard vibration that pike pick up from far away, and behind it the hand-tied bucktail skirt and rabbit hair tail pulse and breathe with every turn of the handle, a lot of volume for very little weight. It fishes anywhere between 1 and 5 metres: let it sink and work it deep, or keep the rod tip up to fish it over shallow weed beds. The BIM Tackle ChaCha Bait is the big one at 28 cm and 50 g for pike and catfish, the ChaCha Bait Junior is 20 cm and 30 g for pike and zander, and the ChaCha Bait Mini is the 18 g version on a single hook for perch, zander and smaller pike water. The ChaCha Bait Flashy adds shimmering fibres to the skirt for extra flash in clear water, in the Junior and the Regular size. All of them can be fitted with a softbait trailer for extra bulk. You find more bladed jigs in our Chatterbaits and Spinnerbaits collection.
BIM Tackle Crazy Rabbit: handmade bucktail lure with interchangeable heads
The Crazy Rabbit is a 29 cm bucktail lure, handmade from a mix of natural hair and synthetic fibres, with a bucktail skirt and a rabbit hair tail. The Easy Clip system lets you swap the head in seconds, so one lure fishes shallow, deep, slow or fast, on a straight retrieve, vertically or with sharp jerks. The Crazy Rabbit Shallow (33 g) is the version for weed beds and shallow flats, the Crazy Rabbit Deep (53 g, also sold as Crazy Rabbit Heavy) drops at one second per metre for deeper water and pelagic pike, and the Crazy Rabbit JNR is the 21 cm little brother with an extra blade, perfect for perch, zander and sea bass. Both big versions have a trailer hook so you can replace the tail with a softbait. Spare and extra heads in 15, 30, 40 and 50 g are the BIM Tackle Crazy Head. Browse all hair lures in Mouse and Bucktail Lures.
BIM Tackle Shallow Cruiser: ready to fish bucktail for shallow pike
The Shallow Cruiser is BIM Tackle's answer to shallow water: a lead-free resin head with a 100% synthetic skirt that pushes a lot of water, super slow sinking, built to roll just over weed beds, shallow flats and submerged cover without snagging. The BIM Tackle Shallow Cruiser (23 cm, 96 g) comes ready to fish with the trailer and razor-sharp trebles mounted. The Shallow Cruiser Rig (10 cm, 35 g) is the same head without trailer, with a screw-in system that holds twin tails, grubs and shads straight. The matching trailer is the BIM Tackle VV Cruiser, an 18 cm curly tail softbait whose hook-shaped tail starts working at the slightest movement and sends out the low-frequency vibrations pike pick up with their lateral line. Want it deeper? Add a weight to the rig and cast it at pelagic pike. More big pike softbaits are in Pike Softbaits and Curl Tails and Twister Tails.
BIM Tackle Tiger Pike spinnerbait and Roaring Lion chatterbait
Next to the bucktails, BIM Tackle makes two classic wire baits. The BIM Tackle Tiger Pike Spinnerbait is a 32 g spinnerbait with a reinforced Strong Harmonic Steel wire frame, a willow and a Colorado blade and a robust single hook, made to cast far and fish slow and deep between weed beds for big pike. The BIM Tackle Roaring Lion Chatterbait is the light 7 g bladed jig with a hand-tied silicone skirt and a trailer keeper on a 1/0 single hook, for perch and pike along weed edges on a light rod. Both fit in our Chatterbaits and Spinnerbaits and Pike Hardbaits collections.
BIM Tackle Lethal Tusk: floating TPE craw for perch and zander
The Lethal Tusk is BIM Tackle's finesse craw, made of TPE, a material that is robust, elastic and floating, so the claws stand up off the bottom and wave with the slightest movement. It imitates small shrimp and crayfish and works on the Ned rig, Neko rig and micro jig for wary perch and zander. The Lethal Tusk Craw 5,6 cm comes 10 to a pack, the Lethal Tusk Craw 7,6 cm 8 to a pack. Store TPE baits apart from normal soft plastics. More craws are in Craws and Creature Baits and Zander and Perch Softbaits.

What is a ChaCha Bait?
A ChaCha Bait is a hybrid of a chatterbait (bladed jig) and a bucktail jig: a vibrating blade in front, a hand-tied skirt of natural hair and a rabbit hair tail behind it. It was Matthias Lothy's first design for BIM Tackle and is made for pike, zander and catfish in 1 to 5 metres of water.
Are BIM Tackle lures lead-free?
The ChaCha Bait has a zinc head and the Shallow Cruiser a resin head, both without lead. The Crazy Rabbit uses interchangeable Crazy Heads in 15 to 50 g.
Which BIM Tackle lure is best for pike?
For most pike water the ChaCha Bait Junior and the Crazy Rabbit Shallow are our first picks. In coloured water or over shallow weed the Shallow Cruiser, and for big pike in deep water the ChaCha Bait 28 cm or the Crazy Rabbit Deep.
