Rapala Precision Xtreme Pencil Saltwater – Walk the Dog Surface Lure for Sea Bass

The Rapala Precision Xtreme Pencil Saltwater is a floating pencil built for the salt. It is the lure you tie on when bass are chasing bait on the surface along the beach, in the estuary or over a rock mark. Work it with short twitches and it walks the dog: a wide, side to side glide that pulls fish up from a long way off, with the hooks and finish to take the beating saltwater gives a lure.

Inside the through wired plastic body sits an internal weight that slides along a rail. That sliding weight is what makes this 10.7 cm pencil cast as far as it does and keeps it stable on the retrieve, even with a crosswind. On the retrieve the same weight becomes the Dual Frequency Knocker: it hits a plastic pillar and a stainless steel weight in turn, so the lure gives off a high and a low pitch one after the other. The body is lead free and translucent with printed scales and a 3D holographic eye, and it hangs on two VMC 7548 Ti coated treble hooks and heavy duty split rings.

We stock six saltwater prey patterns. Ayu, Live Blue Sardine and Mullet are the naturals for clear water and bright days. Pearl White is the all round choice at dawn and dusk, and Flake Hot Chartreuse and Red Hot are the ones to reach for in coloured water or a chop, when the fish need to find the lure first.
