Madotachi at Charlie's Fishing: Soft Hanitas Crank 3 and Q-Wing spare parts

Madotachi is a Japanese lure maker from Osaka, known for its Hanitas swimbaits and for the patented Q-Wing system: adjustable fins whose angle you can change to alter the action and depth of the lure. The aim is a high-performance lure that also works for less experienced anglers, and the lures are made in Japan. At Charlie's Fishing we stock the Madotachi Soft Hanitas Crank 3, a floating soft crankbait for perch and pike in shallow water, together with the three parts that keep it tuned: weighted hooks, QWING #6 fins and the IN 1.2 plate. Below you find what each one is for.

Madotachi Soft Hanitas Crank 3: floating soft crankbait for perch and pike

The Madotachi Soft Hanitas Crank 3 is a compact 3" (about 7.6 cm, about 8.5 g in the standard setup) soft crankbait with the flexibility of a softbait and the wide wobble and water displacement of a crankbait. Its short, wide and hollow elastomer body floats and gives a big profile for its size. The Q-Wing fins change the action, stability and swimming direction, and the IN system takes components that change weight and balance. It comes with an Ichikawa Fishing Muscle Hook #3/0 offset hook and a supporting treble hook: take the treble off and it fishes more weedless. Reel it slowly over submerged weed, or fish it stop-and-go along docks and reed edges for perch and pike in shallow water. It comes in Royal Pro Blue, Initiator, Moon Chart, Twinkle Shad and Monster Chart. Because it is elastomer, store it in its own packaging and away from ordinary PVC softbaits. More in Zander and Perch Softbaits and Pike Softbaits.

Madotachi spare parts: weighted hooks, QWING fins and IN plate

The Madotachi Hooks are weighted Ichikawa Fishing Muscle Hooks #3/0 that combine hook and weight in one part, so you tune the lure without a separate weight. Choose 0.45 g (IN1.3) when you only want a little extra weight, or 1.3 g (IN1.1) and 2.6 g (IN1.4) for a bigger effect on action and presentation; three hooks per pack. The Madotachi QWING #6 is a pair of replacement fins in Clear, Smoke or Yellow. Each fin can be extended and rotated on its own, which also lets you correct a lure that does not track straight, and you swap them without tools: pull the old fin out and push the new one in. The Madotachi Plate IN 1.2 is a stainless steel plate for the IN system: extend the lip, release the line eye and swap the internal part. Use it as a replacement for a lost plate or as a spare to rig a second lure. See all Spare Parts and Hooks and Rigs.

Which Madotachi part for which situation

• Perch and pike over shallow weed: Soft Hanitas Crank 3 on a slow, steady retrieve.
• Docks and reed edges: Soft Hanitas Crank 3 stop-and-go.
• Heavy weed: take the treble off and fish it on the offset hook only.
• A little more weight, or a different action: Madotachi Hooks in 0.45 g, 1.3 g or 2.6 g.
• Lost, damaged or worn fins, or a lure that runs off to one side: QWING #6.
• Lost plate or a second lure to rig: Plate IN 1.2. See Perch and Pike.

Where does Madotachi come from?

Madotachi is a Japanese brand from Osaka. Its lures are made in Japan and known for the adjustable Q-Wing fin system.

What does the Q-Wing system do?

The Q-Wing fins can be extended and rotated to change their angle. That changes the action, stability and swimming direction of the lure, and lets you correct a lure that does not run straight.

Which Madotachi weighted hook should I choose?

Take the 0.45 g hook when you only want a little extra weight. The 1.3 g and 2.6 g hooks have a bigger effect on the action and presentation of the Soft Hanitas Crank 3.
