Frapp Rowdy Head – Bucktail Pike Lure, 24 cm / 70 g

The Frapp Rowdy Head is a ready-to-fish bucktail lure for pike: a bulky silicone head with a full natural bucktail of deer hair, feathers and lurex, and a Frapp Tricky Tail 8" mounted as the trailer. Together they give you a 24 cm profile that pushes a lot of water and still fishes well on a plain cast and retrieve.

The head has noise slits. Water is forced through the head and out sideways, which creates irregular pulses around the skirt and the trailer. Pike pick that up on their lateral line, and the turbulence also shows up clearly on live sonar, so you can follow the lure on screen when you fish from the boat.

Fished slowly without extra weight it runs about a metre deep, ideal over weed beds and along reed beds. Clip an Illex John Weight to the loop under the head and it runs deeper, over drop-offs or on pelagic pike. The screw-in tail system holds the Tricky Tail straight and lets you swap it for the 10" version or another soft lure of a similar size. Two sharp 2/0 treble hooks on a free-moving split ring system complete the rig.
