The Savage Gear Mutant Rat 30 cm arrives fully rigged: hard head, mounted soft tail and two sharp trebles on a stainless steel stinger. It stays alive at walking pace, so you can crawl it over weed and along reed beds where the biggest pike sit, and that slow, heavy profile is often what turns a follower into a bite. It needs a heavy big bait rod behind it. The 24 cm at 68 g is the easier all-day cast and the better choice on shallow, clear water.
